It was one of the excuses for not having women on board of military or merchant vessels. The probable actual reasons was that the presence amongst a woman on board of a ship would be quite distracting. Not to mention jealousy and the problem for the woman to be able to fend off possible suitors.
But let's get to the REAL question for today's strip now: Did the parrot get the cussword from Lydia or vice versa?!?
